By Robert Kennedy, About.com

Question: FAQs - What do you do when your child Is wait listed?

Many parents panic when their child is wait listed rather than admitted or rejected. Here's what to do.

Answer: Don't pester the schools! If your child has been rejected or wait listed at all the schools to which he applied, then you must consider your other options. Calling the school to let them know of your continued interest is a good idea. But don't pester them. Let the admissions process run its course. You will know definitively within a few weeks whether he will be accepted.

Your Options
There are many schools which offer rolling admissions throughout the spring and summer. Meet with your consultant and develop a list of two or three schools which suit your needs.
You should know by the end of April whether you child has been admitted at the wait listed schools. If he has not been admitted, apply to the schools you have identified.
